March. What a strange month. They’re not kidding about those ides: Not spring. Not winter. Good stuff. Yuck. Cold. Warm. Snow. Rain. Gorgeous sun.
Personally it’s been a fairly low key month. Work. Work. Work. Interesting prospects on my horizon, now and further out, and I’m so much closer to getting back in my car and wandering again. Interpersonally though a lot’s a happening in my sphere: 2 new tiny ones to dote on. 2 Engagements. My cousin finally got her dual citizenship (yay!). But there’s also been some bad news in there too. It’s not my bad news, but as we all can attest, it doesn’t matter whether it’s your bad news or not. It still sucks and you wish it wasn’t happening and you want to make it better. Why can’t what we hear on the news and read in our news feeds be all good news? Budgets solved. Hate and discrimination eradicated. Peace on earth. Good will toward men. Sickness cured and so on.
But alas, alack we don’t live in some utopian novel (and thank goodness: those kids are always in the midst of an existential crisis or emotional awakening. Exhausting.). So what can we do? Well there’s the Keep Calm option. The just keep swimming option. The anarchy option. But I think I prefer mild social activism. Write a letter. Help a kid make a wish. Send a thank you note. Random acts of human kindness.
But when all else fails, rouse some rabble and raise some hell. To all our fellow citizens holding signs and changing FB pictures. Good for you. Make some good. March.
